BASILICA OF AQUILEIA | ITALY
The second trip was made in Italy, more precisely, in North-Eastern Italy, a very small town named Aquileia. Here a group of blind and visually impaired people visited the Basilica of Aquileia, a dominant hub of the Christian world for Central Europe from the Middle Ages to the 18th Century. With Fondazione Aquileia and Tooteko, the VI people were able to follow the itinerary in the basilica while enriching the knowledge from the audio guide
The Report would not be truthful if we omitted that this visit included a pleasant détour: including not only the excursion, but also having the nice food from Italian cuisine at La Colombara restaurant, relaxing time and general conviviality.
ST. JAMES CATHEDRAL & TYPHLOLOGICAL MUSEUM | CROATIA
The third part of our European Tour in the World Heritage Attractions was made to Croatia, on February 20-21 2021.
First, our group of local tourists visited the St. James Cathedral, in Sibenik, had a marvelous day at this historical site and took off to Zabreb, where they continued their adventires!
The second day of the trip was dedicated to the exhibition, prepared by the Typhlological Museum, in Zagreb.
ALHAMBRA PALACE | GRANADA
The Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, was the last stop of our UNESCO4ALL trip. Here our «touch and hear» prototypes have been tested by a local group of ONCE (the Spanish association of blind people).
During the event, (March, 2nd) the director of the Board of the Alhambra, Rocío Díaz, has expressed her satisfaction that the Chamber of Commerce of Granada supported the accessibility of the UNESCO site with an innovative, European project. You may check out the news on the Spanish web here.
Due to Covid-19, many plans were disturbed, but with the resilience of our partners, we still managed to make it come true! So thank you to all the participants, accompanists, guides, and our partners to make it all possible!
